Wow, I had not known that there were that many of the special version out there (and almost wish I could still go back to that ignorance! ;) ). Thanks for saving all those pics! Yeah, I have definitely seen the yellow on GID one for sale on YJA at least twice before, but as I said, I am not sure if it was the same one or not. The one I had seen for sale, according to the photo at least, was loose and without the base. I assumed you got this recent one from M shop (?).

Yuppers. It came with the wooden base and paper insert like you can see in a few of those other pics. Here's a scan if anyone cares to translate:

My Japanese is a bit rough as it has been a while since I practised it, but I am pretty sure it says something to the effect of,
"Warning: This toy is strongly cursed. Displaying it in your home will cause all other toys to be jealous and react against it. Does not play well with other GID toys. In case of accidental purchase, please secure well and pass on to knowledgebable person in a more northern country.

Well, let us assume the helpful people at M1 mean that general latitude. Which pretty much covers Japan and the US.

Alright, going all the way back to the beginning with this one. One of the first and finest, the M1 Semi Ningen. Released back in the first wave of '91 (though this is the later orange version) yet still no less loveable today. Monsters in suits can do no wrong.

Wow, that is such a beautiful Zetton Grace! Who did that one for you? I really love the subtle purple highlights underneath the light blue paint, and he is wearing such a lovely brown suit. :) I can just see these guys commuting together on the train in their salaryman outfits.

Thank you Stephen! The Zeton was from a JYA auction, about 4 years ago. According to the original listing description, it was a custom paint for a store display. Both suits were donated to the JP Tsunami Aid (I think! I'll need to verify this when I finally unearth all of my toys). I do miss them both, but it was for a very good cause. I'll probably try to re-adopt more if I can. Something about monsters in suits--both whimsical and very appealing!

I still LOVE the custom that Red Yoda painted for me (just stunning metallics against a stark black suit)
That polka dot tie is the bee's knees! And a nice golden coat button too. Plus look at his itty bitty golden manicure! Nathan gave him cats eyes so he wouldn't frighten Mr. Humphreys. He's a great cat sitter by the way ;)

His older brother is to the right (this is Nathan's, and when I first saw it, I just had to ask him for a custom)...
His older brother has blood shot eyes! See those teeny tiny red capillaries--a great detail there :)
I wonder what ever happened to Nathan :( , he has a wonderful talent for painting customs...

That is a stunner too Grace. I love all the detail Nathan did, as you pointed out. Zetton sure looks sharp in his formal attire. It is a shame you don't have the other guy too anymore, I will have to keep my eyes open for him out in the toy wilds, but that is really great of you to donate him to the relief fundraiser. It was really great to see how many members of the community stepped up to help out. If anyone knows the current whereabouts of this fella, I hear there is a bounty on him.

If it helps, all of the toys I donated, went to boardies on Skullbrain (except for Leafman, who went to a friend, but I re-adopted him two years later-phew!), so you might want to post the photo in the WANTS section? Happy Hunting! :D

Alright, a couple more here to share. I am a complete sucker for anything with tentacles. Cuttlefish, more like cuddlefish! I love these Gezora (or is that Gezorae?). Creatures of the deep beware indeed. Of being squiddled together with hugs maybe.

What a great looking duo! - I just love that powdery blue original release! Seeing your pic, I now regret not biting the couple of times that I've had a swing.

    Sucker for tentacles? Ach!

    • I love how pimp Semi-Ningen's human form looked in Ultra Q. They should have given that guy a starring role in a spy show!
    • Grace I can't believe that you were the owner of those Red Yoda customs and willingly parted with them! They are legendary in my mind.
    • Someone please Photoshop up a Gezora Butler playing in Black Sabbath!

Did someone say Yog? I love my M1 Glowies:

Use to have one more (Osaka Festival Glow Gezora) but do to space issues I sold it to Mr Lamm, here is a pic I took in the park:

Incidentally, say what you want about Mandarake but I got a free Glow Gezora from them. They sent me the wrong Gezora when I ordered the pink glowie a few years back. Sent me a green glow which I already owned. I was set to return it for the pink one (which they found) but told me to keep it and sent me the correct pink one.

Those are fantastic examples Lixx. Although I usually prefer the rainbow colours on the GID vinyl from M1, that one on the far right is definitely extra lovely. I love the blue/pink, and am not really such a fan of the jeweled eyes on vinyl toys.

That is a great story about the mix up, I am just happy they still had the pink in stock for you and it worked out. Oh, I might I FART A LOT and moan about Mandarake, but that is just about the overpriced flipping and gouging, I still think it is an amazing place, and remains one of the best sources for any of us who happen to not live in Japan (and even then, I can say from experience it is none too shabby!). I have never gotten to the point of having to return something, but I can see why it isn't worth it for them to go through the hassle. Usually though they just resort to the "item not exactly as pictured" disclaimer to get out of things.

Beautiful photos Lixx; and excellent figures of course. Toys always look so much better in nature and under natural light. And there is no such thing as overposting when it comes to the M1 thread! So, in that vein, one more classic monster from me. You might say this guy awoke from the ancient ruins of my collection. Hide your dogs!

^^ That one's awesome ultrakaiju. The head, body and colors plus shape all look so weird and yet seem to fit together perfectly

Has it really been that long since I posted pics of some Gargantuas in the threads? :) Well, most people might know I have slight obsession with these guys, so here is yet another of sets of the giants. This also happens to be fantastic one in its own right, having removable heads to 'reveal' the actors' faces underneath the suits.

Interestingly, although it was discussed on here way back when, when these guys came out,* I had no idea how soft the 'monster' heads are. They are really thin and rubbery; not like the typical J-vinyl at all. Am incredibly cool feature, but a bit weak to install on their own. I almost wish you could slip them overtop of the human heads.

Beautiful M1 original sculpting, superb paint application, and a really fun play feature to boot. I am indeed smitten.

*(here and here for anyone interested)

^ yeah, weird that they're not the typical masks-with-slits. why make them super soft, then, i wonder. still, nice set you have there. it's also great to see that they aren't just different heads/paints on same bodies.
