I see what you mean. I should clarify then. Yes, it is my understanding that the kickstarter effort fell short of the total production cost of the toy. So Serpico didn't reach the final goal even with the kickstarter goal accomplished. That's what I meant and what the sculptor reported, but I don't have the particulars; I didn't participate in the crowd-funding either. Based on what Édgar has shared, I don't think I'd have the elements to consider his reaction a retaliation. However I'm no judge and it's not my position to declare who is at fault between Serpico and Édgar/Toyheavy. I just wanted to make clear that Mysterio was not acting in foul play.
Sure. It baffles me too. It's a shame, I think the sculpt is really good and the whole project looked nice.
Jumping around a bit here but this is part of the problem. People CLEARLY buying bootlegs then selling them sayin "I don't know" and putting them back on the market...Selling fake crap with a disclaimer is selling fake crap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mutant-Vin...N-/255144251449?&_trksid=p2056016.m2518.l4276
Yeah this was a very weird "I want to get my money back" with some self-validation sprinkled in. If its truly something you don't support and you have a strong hunch its a fake, don't try to pawn off your trash to someone else, throw it in the trash.
From ToyHeavy, Frank and Serp's stories, What I gather is, the toy production was way under-budgeted. Serp's claims of, "I tried to pay the sculptor," but didn't? Kind of weird. "He never named a price!" but now he did, so he can and maybe should pay? Or at least revisit that conversation before it explodes any further. If there was an agreement to be paid after the campaign, then they need to stick to that agreement, but it seems like the sculptor wants what's due sooner than later, putting everything else in jeopardy.
yeah this is bullshit... starting your price at what you paid ($130) sorry brother... it's fake. i can 1000000000000% tell you its a fake/bootleg... instead of beating around the bush, list it as so, and not a hands up i don't know. did you think you found a needle in a haystack when paying $130 for it? the sad part is this might be the same damn black bootleg Dokuro that has passed through 3 sets of hands now? and might be a 4th.
This is fucking ridiculous for a bootleg. The fact that they didn't put it in the title of the listing shows that they're trying to bank on people not reading the description lol
Not as bad as that bootleg nag on yja that went for over a few grand with the same feign ignorance type listing.
Curious to see how high it s going to go for. Certainly not a good thing for the hobby to see bootlegs selling for this much. Do people really put $500 in without reading the description? Or think $500 is fair for a bootleg? Or ...?
Its probably people who want to spin the wheel at "maybe its real and I'm getting a steal" when they are just burning their money instead.
At this point I might as well start selling bootlegs on ebay. I'll make an order list, who wants what color?
Yeah eBay should really take them down. I report everyone I see that’s bootleg. I always see a big header on the eBay page “no fakes all legit” or something like that. Apparently not!
a weird grey area here too... you could potentially buy it... say its a fake/bootleg, and paypal can't actually ask you to return it... as knowingly sending a bootleg in the US mail is illegal... I guess they could ask you to use private FEDEX/UPS? but yeah... they can't ask you to break the law sending something fake in the mail.
I feel all sorts of discomfort since I saw that bootleg DX for sale on Splurrt website 2 days ago. I’m wondering what others think about it. How come I’m the one to write this post? Do you guys think it’s ok? Am I the only one here thinking it’s a terrible news for the hobby? I don’t get how an artist 10 years in the hobby can justify to themselves stealing someone’s design and sell it for profit? And that poor justification on the website is so bad… I mean any justification would be terrible, I guess. Mostly I m still chocked. Can’t process this. Also, I don’t know where else to communicate about this. I hope Joe didn’t open a door for others.
I’ve brought this up before and no one’s made a peep about it since. The only artists that have been bootlegged people are white knighting for are the hype ones: Hirota, MVH, Nag and Ishi. No one’s really said shit about the fact that Joe, Paul and Jon were bootlegged by proxy, and Real x Head got a mention. There was also threat of Headlock bein’ bootlegged, which I don’t think came to fruition. If someone can point me in the direction of outrage for them that’s been expressed for the three previously mentioned I’d genuinely be interested to see it. And who’s to say Joe didn’t buy a bootleg DX body with one of his Cadaver or Usir heads on it? Surely that’s 113% at his leisure and discretion to buy it. My personal favorite part about this shit is that I personally know of some of these white knights bitchin’ about MVH bootlegs that have multiples of Hirota and Nag boots made by the same guy in their collections. It’s comical. No one here is flippin’ their shit over the the entirety of resin bootlegs any more than they aren’t about Paul, Joe and Jon bein’ bootlegged, because it’s nothin’ they want and it doesn’t get those double tap hearts of dopamine. No one’s losin’ monies over the shit, Joe used his own head on a bullshit body that he came into by his own means, and it went for almost less than half of what even a legitimate painted run goes for. The ultimate irony, is, if Shig, Ishi, MVH or Hirota bought their own boots and painted them, they’d more than likely be priced exorbitantly, and they’d all sell out immediately. I’m not sayin’ they would, or even should, but “no sUppORtinG boOtleGs” would go right out the fuckin’ door if that hypothetical happened. In short, at this stage, I don’t think the bootlegging itself is okay, but I don’t see this damaging anything other than egos. Some will support the real shit, and many who feel they get burned by repeat lotto winners on small ass runs, secret sales and shitty prices will go their own route. Artists will handle their own shit, choose your side of the fence and mow your own lawn. ‘Cause at the end of the day, realistically no one is going do anything about someone buyin’ a boot, other than typing.
So either bootlegging is okay or it isn’t. Your response seems very fair water, but then say bootlegging in itself isn’t okay… make it make sense? I’ve been vocal about the MVH bootlegging for sure, it’s one of the 2 main makers i collect hard on. So i guess who that reps hard for rampage or splurrt or Pk would be the ones to for sure stand up about those bootlegs? Or go so far to even pinpoint the flaws in the boot next to a real to help the community distinguish a boot from a real pull? I will say that so know you’ve been a HEAVY headlock/knuckle collector before the Frankie and this new surge of interest/product etc. How would you feel if not only he was indeed bootlegged, but a artist who is a colleague of Headlock/knuckle not only supports the bootleg by giving it a great critique, but then paints it and sales it… i feel you’d have a different outlook on things personally. I think you’re sitting on one side of the fence just because you aren’t that into MVH and more so into joes work. Taking sides out of it as far as artists though… right is right and wrong is wrong. At the end of the day it should just be a matter of if you support bootlegging in this already niche of a community or not.
