love hate for kaws here... Owning a very big portfolio of his work early on, i do love the aesthetics that he takes. however after selling the items... i doubt i'd buy them back at the current market. Bootlegs on Kaws i think are different than bootlegs of a sofubi artist. i've also had Bootleg kaws, hell I used to have a shelf of just bootleg kaws, Fake OriginalFake is just humorous. however I prefered the blatant rip offs, or super cheap renditions of toys never created. Flabslab's takes on kaws are cringeworthy... I have never liked any of them. at some point i'll go back to filling in kaws gaps, by simply buying the bootleg versions. they are close enough to the real thing at $30 or so that its worth it. I guess everyone has their own take on that gray area subject. to just rephrase what I said above, i'm not okay with someone bootlegging someones work that funds their own projects and does it on small scale compared to mass market. I am okay with china selling $30 bootlegs of a world renowned artist who sells prints for 10K. also dude was charging i think $6-700 for nag at first... I think he quickly realized not many were going to pay that. The sad part is I bet some have supported his MVH/NAG bootlegs, and I bet HXS is next on the list.
