Nightly local news loves to cover local fires and murders and other nasty shit. This is no different except it scales up to national news attention. It could be summarized in three minutes but the media wants to milk ratings and keep viewers tuning in.
in all seriousness I've not one read one consistent report on swine flu. the cases reported and death from it vary greatly from one news source to the next. that it's so off seems suspicious to me.
Booskas may or may not be distant relatives of the swine, so I'm taking precaution for the benefit of you all.
I'm telling you, pigs, cows and sheep are not suppose to eat meat. Their feed has meat and steroids in it. They are forcing these guys to be cannibals. So I guess its payback time...scary!
Pigs are definitely supposed to eat meat. They're omnivores. Sheep and cows, though, no, but I've never heard of farm-raised sheep and cows being fed meat.
Really, I didn't know pigs are omnivores Well its about time the go vegetarian! Meat product from USA, Australia, New Zealand and Japan are pretty safe...from elsewhere???
Yeah, that's what causes Mad Cow Disease. They grind up the dead and feed it back to them. So not only do they get increased amounts of hormones, steroids and other drugs, they also end up eating the brains (insert zombie joke here), so as this cycle continues it gets worse and worse, increasing the unintentional drug & brain intake, so they get all sorts of fucked up. There have been cases of people with Mad People Disease, which is from eating human brains, it has some sort of really negative effect (unsurprisingly) which causes the brain (in the alive person) to get all swiss cheesey and makes them sick. Or something along those lines.... Either way, it's true, and it's BAD. Interestingly, they recently released that genome study on cows which shows how over thousands and thousands of years of both natural selection and human engineering cows are actually autistic now, which is why they are docile. HUMANS RULE!!!! GO US!!!! oh oh! Interesting Pig fact of the day! This is pretty cool! If you release a funny domesticated pig into the wild, they will go feral in under a month. It doesn't matter how far back their farm lineage goes either. Pigs return to feral wild animal, faster and more successfully than any other animal. That cute little piggy with grow big tusks, coarse hair and eat you in a month. how cool is that!?
Swine Flu (300), Mad Cow Disease (200), West Nile disease (124), Bird Flu (450), SARS (800) - numbers in parentheses are quick research on TOTAL deaths worldwide the past 10 years vs. 500,000 common flu deaths & 10 Million cancer deaths PER YEAR. You're going to die from something but it probably won't be from a media-induced pandemic.
I don't see how it could be harmful making this front and center and asking people to take extra precaution - There's a virus that we have no vaccine for - Can pass from human to human - Has the capacity to kill people in their prime Just because it hasn't killed that many people doesn't mean it doesn't have the capacity to. You don't wait till there are 300,000+ deaths before you take it seriously.
People are aware of AIDS and how it spreads. There's an effective method/prevention against the spread of AIDS.
This is obviously affecting our view of Pigs in the Media. Babe: Pig in the City (199 More at IMDbPro » Down 11% in popularity this week. See why on IMDbPro. Poor Babe.
When I was very young, we visited a friend's farm in Virginia where they kept pigs and chickens. I adored the little chicks as they hopped around and peeped at me. When we went over to the adjoining pig pen, a couple of chicks wandered in with us. The farmer didn't notice, and he probably would have done something about it if he did, because as I stared in horror, one of the pigs walked over to the chicks and literally inhaled them. True story. I've never been able to forget it.
If the total deaths for the past 10 years from swine flu is 300, but in the last week 100 people died from it...That would be a cause for panic, correct? Also, the majority of the approximate 500,000 common flu deaths usually affects young/old people and people with comprimised immune systems. The swine flu affects healthy people with normal immun systems. Putting cancer in this comparison is not valid because cancer is not a contagious disease.
