Am I the only one who's freaking out that Hottoys is making Star Wars figures now? I mean, I don't collect a lot of 12" figures anymore, but they're the champs and that new Luke looks awesome (pics at SDCC, just look at rebelscum)
Oh cmon, I just don't get that. I know it was going to be "Revenge..." then they changed it and some cool poster repros are nice but slapping that crap on toys just for marketing? Meh. Boring.
Damn, I have been looking for that variant for about 15 years! Supposedly only a few select Kenner employees were known to have some. Great score. Amanaman still remains one of my all-time favourite action figures. I recall carrying him with me through multiple countries during childhood vacations. That instagram pic really suits the vintage line, I can imagine some really great shots of SW collections.
smo9monster: That Yak Face you got there is extremely rare as well. Average market value is $1,000 according to this site: http://actionfigures.about.com/od/historyofactionfigures/tp/top_5_starwars.htm I had a Yak Face when I was a kid, but little did I know and sold him to some lucky swedish bastard in a big Star Wars lot for something like 10 bucks. This was back in 1990 I believe and I was a dumb 12 year old who'd grown tired of his action figures. I also sold a bunch of MOTU and MOTU knockoffs and I still regret it to this day.
Those prices are way out - Yak face is worth much more!!! I can remember back in the old days when my local toy shop was selling uncarded last 17 figures bundled together in knotted plastic bags for crazy cheap prices just to get rid of them! They had white wire baskets full of them!!! Sadly sold most of mine too along with he-man, zoids, micronauts, doctor who, action man, Denys Fisher Android in a Torg suit etc etc - all the stuff I now really regret! Started buying back in the early 90s - there was a toy market on my walk to art college which was great! Nearly finished building my flux capacitor - then back to '85 to go shopping...
You don't need to see his identification... Picked up a landspeeder and the last 2 ewoks I needed this week!
Go for it and have a big battle - mini H can be in charge of the Wampa! Kids seem to like playing Wampas I find!!!
those prices is what kept me from ever buying the vintage figs and is the main reason i started collecting SW Kubricks
Speaking of Battles of Hoth, I can never watch this enough (thanks to Montreal filmmaker Patrick Boivin): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CVYOCMpJRY Here is also a great Uamou trooper shot, courtesy of Ayako Takagi
amazing shelf and collection! so that's just your Tatooine shelf right? Don't stop there, where's the rest?! Some of those Kubricks ain't cheap either - that's what stopped me starting on them - I can't own any or I'd want them all! Been getting more tempted recently though ...using the force to stop! thanks for the relink on this, not seen it for a while! Just watched the making too - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94KO4UHOyk4&feature=fvwrel - great stuff!
Thanks, yea these things are insanely addictive. Here is a Hoth pic (Galactic Hero figs are place holders till Medicom makes'em) Just got a small case of DX3, so once i rearrange everything i'll put up a few more. Hope you guys enjoy.
I just did a quick "completed auctions" search on the bay of evil and found a MOC Yak Face (Warok Tri Logo) that sold for $1,200. The loose ones in good condition seem to end somewhere between $100-200. If only there were time machines! Last week when I visited my mom and dad I found Amanaman's staff of skulls in an old shoe box in the attic but unfortunately not Amanaman himself. I think I need a 24" Gentle giant Amanaman to compensate for this horrible loss!
