I went from not caring much about the show, to caring slightly less after episode 4. More plot lines and more people whose names we don't even know. I still don't even know why the guy(who's in every episode and I don't know his name) was sad to be made pit boss... The shootout was exciting for a good minute, then it just went on and on like a 10min keyboard solo from Yes that nobody wants to hear...when the sloppy/chubby detective got shot in the head, I didn't feel a thing, as like with 95% of the cast, I didn't know his name or what is role was. He might as well have been one of the protesters with the shitty signs from kinkos.

Like most people, I'm just going to ride it out because I'm a bit stubborn and I'm mildly curious about Casper's Secret life, aside from that, I don't know what else there is to follow or why? The empty bar scenes do not even peak my interest anymore. I don't care why her knees were bloody, or why the bartender has a scar, four episodes in and I just look at them like rest of the show...nameless,dry,empty and without empathy.

I knew it would not hold up to what Season 1 did as it was near flawless, but this season is pretty bad.
Only thing missing is Axel Foley at this point.

This almost made me spit up my coffee! Lmao Axel Foley. How funny would it be if Eddie Murphy made a cameo?!

Yeah my hopes for a better season, or at least a better wrap up to a season than 1 have been crushed. Oh well time to go grudge watch Episode 5. I swear the amount of critique and grudge watching of shows going on here- we should just form a writers club and pitch our own show. Although we probably would argue with each other over what the show was about.

Atleast we are finally getting SOME answers with this past episode, the 2 month flash forward seemed a bit rushed however.

Im waiting for the season to be done and give it a rewatch before I make up my mind overall, coming from the first season where the show focused primarily on 2 characters and this one now is focusing on 4, I think they are having a hard time packing it all in in a cohesive manner and Im having some trouble figuring out who is who still (Stan?!).

Glad they are following up with the missing cleaning woman and finally getting some solid leads to the killer(s).

I like that we are finally moving in the right direction, but did it need to take 5 episodes to get here?!

The first season took it's sweet time actually showing us where it was headed and why we were watching as well so that isn't too much of a change. The difference is even when we weren't exactly sure what was going on in season one the characters and dialog were so damn interesting that it didn't even matter. That is what we are lacking now.

VV just isn't credible as a hardass ex-mobster type and it makes every scene with him feel like it's a buildup to a punchline that isn't coming. The lady detective's father also seems to not fit at all after a million roles with him as a stern cop or merc or killer or whatever having him place a long-haired hippie culty whatever is just silly.

My wife and I were trying to figure out why we still watch it...I told her someone on a message board called it a Grudge Watch...never heard that term before and it perfectly descibes my feelings on the show.

That being said, there were a handful of things that made Episode 5 interesting and more watchable...onward to Episode 6

More like a begrudge watch.

Yeah, the story finally moved forward, but they definitely are throwing so much out there now in a short period of time, feels like a rush job to bring it to a storyline they intended. Plus, with the heavy break, it almost feels like they could/are trying to just start fresh now. This is not a new season guys... I feel like only this last episode had the 'detective' casework really begun (and in a torrent) - so are they going to solve it all in the next epsiode at this rate?

I think the real problem with this season is the dialogue. The scenes with VV and his wife constantly are pretty brutal, and honestly aren't bringing a whole lot in that I can see yet. One terrible non-plot rant is one thing, but they just keep going there.

Started to re-watch season one and it's so much better right from the start. But I wonder how much of that is owed to the fact that the writer plagiarized so much of Rust's best lines.

Well project free tv went down guess I'm out on watching this. No big loss. More concerned with other shows coming up.

This weeks episode was pretty tense, also very Lynch. The whole "Bob" like character that Bezzerides sees while going undercover in the orgy mansion? Im not sure who that is, probably one of her fathers friends, but it doesn't seem to be a positive part of her past...

Also, this season is really all about dads isnt it?

I feel they implied rather heavy-handedly that pedo hippie molested her, so yeah, probably not that positive... That flashback montage looked like they lifted it straight outta some 70ies euro trash.

^^ Yep, molestation is the meaning i took from that 'flashback' as well . . .

I have to say i'm a little disappointed by a lot of cliche's appearing in the show. Most of the time i'm enjoying it but compared to
the first season it seems much more like 'normal' TV.

Too many coincidences . . . like when Bezzerides seemingly randomly exited the mansion from one of multiple doors
with the missing girl, and who's magically stood there? - Woodrugh, all ready to help.

What the hell happened to the music score when the boys were staging their Pink Panther style break-in? It completely turned
to shit. Also, that break-in reminded me of Bruce Lee sneaking around Han's island in Enter the Dragon . . . .

Yeah everyone I watched with was confused by that weird soundtrack shift. I was happy with the bouncer's "Fuck you do?" reaction to getting slashed.

This episode made me feel like I was watching an episode of Law & Order: SVU, when Olivia goes undercover and Finn has to pretend he's a pimp or something. I was all for this season, with the understanding that it's simply not as good as the first, but this episode was just silly.

I got a lot more out of it on second viewing, but that party scene was still goofy. Other than the awesom knife moves.

I agree with everything being said; too many clichés, too much extraneous stuff, still more terribly monologues from Vaughn, completely heavy-handed and over-the-top rape/molestation implications. This season does seem inordinately focused on fathers (and by extension themes of religion/trust/'caretakers'). The sex party was just, ech, can't they move on already; I think they were just trying to see how much they could get away with - that, or fill screen time - and since we already know exactly what was going to be going on (bad rich white men are deviants) it was basically pointless exposition. I didn't check how many episodes are to come, but I hope they pull it together if only to eventually have the ratings to make a third, better, season.

I know I'm in the minority here but wow! What an episode.

Really looking forward to the 90 minute finale next week, the story has been building slowly and I feel like the finale is going to be an absolutely insane release.

Using a line from to the show to describe exactly how I feel about this season compared to the last one.

"You ain't that thing no more. What you used to was."

    SPOIIIIILER!!!
And now the one guy you might have actually had empathy for is dead. Great.
