The movie, is not bad at all, against all odds ! The soundtrack is awesome. JW best work in a decade. It can stand alone on it's own very well. Other recommended Tintin inspired music
^^^ It had been too long for me, too. I just rewatched Deep End the other night so I had to go hunt down the collection.
' Even though I'd heard tons of studio outtakes years ago thanks to bootlegs from the Netherlands, it's great to finally have this material out with the best sound quality possible. It's difficult to imagine how it might have come together as a single LP in 1967, but if it had, it would have had a huge impact on popular music, possibly as strongly as "Sgt. Pepper" did. Anyway, it's brilliant music and a great unresolvable psychedelic puzzle.
^^thanks for bringing this to my attention Dean. I'm such a huge beach boys fan. Do you know the difference between the box set and the regular album?
Howdy EVOM. There are three versions that I know of: A 2-disc CD set (which can also be bought via iTunes,) a 2-album vinyl LP set, and the box set which includes 5 CDs, a nice book and also the double LP version. All of them include a reconstruction of the 2004 Brian Wilson version of the album using original 1966 material, so it's really the Beach Boys (and the Wrecking Crew) this time as opposed to a new performance. Must have been a hell of an engineering task to pull all those snippets together! Naturally the original BB vocals are better than the perfect-ized Wondermints vocals of '04. If you're just sort of curious but not much of a fan, the 2-Disc version offers a really good picture of the sessions, including some vocals-only excerpts that are amazing. If you really love Wilson's genius and want a broader picture of what he was trying to do at the time, the 5-disc set is the way to go. What's obvious now is that the 2004 version was too long for a single LP, but too short for a double LP. The whole thing is like a zen koan in that way.
Remastered disc of Siouxsie & The Banshees- Hyaena. That 'Glamour' Remix of Dazzle gives me shivers.....
