I can't stop listening to "Light Up Gold" by Parquet Courts. Just sort of stumbled across this thing on iTunes ... listened to some samples, downloaded it and instantly fell in love. Good honest stripped-down rock music. Released this year, it could almost have been released in 1978, or maybe 1988. If you like early Dream Syndicate, The Velvet Underground, alt.rock or punk, check it out. I don't know much about these guys yet but I hope they keep making music. The whole album is great.
^^^ Way to sell it, sir. I'll be hunting some down immediately! Been on a Young Marble Giants kick myself.
Been lovin' Young Marble Giants since waaaaaay back when they were releasing vinyl on Rough Trade. Their music never stopped sounding good. Saw them with Cabaret Voltaire in SF back when fire was invented, or maybe when Jesus was born. It's been awhile.
So good. Exactly and only what was required. Just a perfect record. I was about 10 years late on them, but that's still over 20 years of heavy rotation in my various homes. Consider me well jealous that you had the opportunity to check them out doing their thing.
This is great from the get go. Killer recommendation. Parquet Courts - Stoned and Starving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs2_OMnk ... ults_video

I recently got to make a video for Ill Bill & EL-P. It's the 1st song they've done together in about 10 yrs. Needless to say, this song has been on repeat for the past week as I worked on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4dbSsEeUEM
I really love Rise Above Records. I just wish there was a way to get their LPs for a more reasonable price. http://diagonal.bandcamp.com/
80's action movie soundtrack mixes. Only for true bad ass mofo's, no wimps allowed (unless they wanna bulk up to slo-mo punch shit)!!!!!! http://www.maddecent.com/blog/blood-bro ... n-america/
nine songs composed for the piano, played on nine fingers. (nils broke his left thumb and had four plastic screws surgically implanted, hence the name of the album.)
^^^ I just saw these guys last month play New Haven. there's comedy at the end of this clip Happy holidays from Big Business http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bM9pYo7K3s
