I'm thinking that's about the most extraordinary bit of animation I've ever seen.

Probably took forever to make--amazing! Everything starts with a concept.

True, but what blew me away about this project is that someone had the motivation and patience to see their concept through. Animation in any medium takes a lot of planning and patience, but given that this person worked without a computer, a light table or acetate cells, armature models or any of the conventional media of animation that make it easier to plot what happens in the next frame and see what happened in prior frames, this is an amazing accomplishment.

The realization of a concept is 10%---90% is accomplished all in yer head! 8)

Really? I wish I felt that way about my creative work. I have plenty of ideas but find the challenge of focussing them, and following through to completion to be more taxing than coming up with concepts. I'm not arguing ... I like what you're saying, it's just not quite how it works for me. I tend to agree with the saying that even creative "genius" is "ten percent inspiration, ninety percent perspiration." If the equation is the opposite for you, I think you're fortunate! :D

I see a difference between creating still images and animation. While creating a single image, the inspiration never stops. The process of creation usually has more to do with the final product than the original idea's spark. With animation, you have to keep returning to the original storyboard and stick with it, even if it gets boring or frustrating. You'll be happy you did when you're done, but it really requires an enduring commitment. Ah well, to each their own!

I agree Dean! Execution is a lot of work. What I'm saying is...coming up with or brewing up a concept from scratch...from zero...is really something. Now, figuring out how to execute it and the actual fulfillment of this concept is really icing on the cake. 8)

For example, doing a painting which requires "skill" to make and finish is totally different from coming up with what to paint. Colors? Medium? Etc. The skill to sculpt a figure definitely requires physical work and its pain in the ass---but to think of what to sculpt is the whole enchilada.

Not arguing too, I really like how you usually put things into perspective. :)
