Post 2 faced Khappa?
:?: Does anybody have insight into how the face of the Khappa shows two different characters, depending which way you look at it?
It's likely to have some traditional Japanese symbolism behind it, but I can't even guess what it is.
I'm still in the discovery phase with these figures and only catching up on some of the finer artistic details now:

Im not sure if you mean "background"(historical) or just the way "how" you can see BOTH faces ?
if it´s pic nr. 1....the total face stops at the eyebrows....and you have to "delete" the mouth in your mind.
pic nr. two also stops at the "eyebrows" and again, you have to delete something when looking at it....the beak/pecker and you can interprete it as the forehead :lol:

if you didnt mean this and want to know if it is a character in kaiju-world...then sorry :oops:

So, indeed, I am after discovering the symbolic meaning 'behind' the figure having two faces, BTW, as you were describing the outlines, I become more aware of how the larger face is the fiercer, more warrior like, while the smaller one is more child like. Then again, I'm not good at reading faces either... :lol:
