 Re: The "What You Got In The Mail That Isn't A Vinyl Toy" Th Charles Burns was in town at Fantagraphics & was giving away the original sketches he used to create his new book The Hive. He had an envelope & randomly pulled out a sketch for everyone that bought the book.   (And on Monday, Chris Ware will be in town to give a talk along w/ Charles Burns & Chip Kidd. Doubt I will score an original from him.)

that should be extremely fun!
It's been months since I initially bought the case. so it feels good to finally have it in place.
@scud80... it is used from a store in my local mall. I asked about the case (they have like 15 of them) and eventually they sold me one. I ended up having to make a new base and header at work though because I wanted to be able to put it together with just two people. it was literally impossible to put back together the way the oringal base was deisigned without the help of 4 strong dudes. also the originals were heavy as fuck, made of junky wood and old laminate. so I made new ones and just used the aluminum framing and all the glass that came with it.

Although I'm amazed at the work you did on it i'm actually kind of disappointed that you had to. Goes to show there's not "right" case and you either gotta modify one or make one from scratch.  (I dont have the time or skills!)

I suggest hounding stores with display cases that are barely filled. it worked for me  I'll see if I can find the aluminum framing and door components online and if so, I'll draw up plans for the base and header and post them here incase anyone does woodworking or wants to have some cabinet shop build it for them. then youd just need to get the glass made.
