if there are no nags at that Chicago event why not save your collective pissing and moaning for the dedicated Mishka thread?

I'm not on anyones side here but how does acting "cooler" than the "cool" kids make you "cool"? Doesn't that define you as a "hipster" yourself? Or is there a cooler cool than "hipster"?

Also, they sell Mishka at mall stores now which technically makes it "mainstream" and no longer considered "hipster".

The "cool" kids already beat the "cooler" kids to it, so I guess technically the "cooler" kids aren't as "cool" as the "cool" kids:

That is really quite something. The color changes so dramatically at different angles. Thanks for sharing, not something you would see in just pictures.

It's always hard to see when people paint like that, I've seen other figures painted this way but unless it's in your hand you would never know.

Really? I felt that "Bemon" had that nailed and from earlier on. Mostly predicated on the sculpt. Straight on images portrayed it one way but texturing an angles...showed a different image or layering.

It seems like it would work on certain toys but not on all.

Bemon's done it for sure. I've seen some HP Gargamel Hedo's that pulled it off too. I'm sure there's others, like you said, depends on the toys texture.

Bemon most definitely nailed this years ago. Besides the 'ranibow' kougai there are a few other HPs and FPs that are painted with the same technique (I've always considered this a Bemon trademark, not sure if there are other earlier toy makers that adopted the same angle painting). The 'Ashura' FP Kougai I recently managed to score is entirely angle painted, using different combinations within the same toy.

This guy here — sorry, I call him ashura for the split painting on the face, not an official name
These photos don't really bring out the angled painting but there's a lot of it, pretty much across all the face, chest and back:

EDIT: funny, now that I look at it that blue/red back painting on the kougai looks pretty similar to the jr nag above

A great way to experience this is with the PK mini resins, they do this very well and much more affordable than Bemons or Nags.

I didnt know the paint wasnt so well adhered to the resin, so I took my sally joe mini on a trip to japan, it came all battered and chipped. But I bet it had a great time.

I have a red base HP bemon (second run?)that looks almost exactly the same as this naggy, only you know, it only cost about 100 dollars at the time, and its a BEMON.
I'll stick with it. ;)

Just my opinion here but I don't think any Nag has been painted as nice as that Kougai. So much going on and it works perfectly.

Dont be dissin', because you know those eyes on the Nags take 2hrs to make and that's total art. I mean, fuck, not even van gogh took that long. The eyes on that kougai, 15mins, tops.
