Andy, I don't think anyone is arguing the original retail price if they could paid that. I believe the thought of the aftermarket/flipper price is what everyone is discussing about.

Oh definitely Andy, I have NO problem with the retail prices, and there is no debate that the Ilu Ilu lines is one of the most diverse and detailed out there. The toys and packaging are simply phenomenal. I think they are a bargain if you have the chance to get them, but unfortunately most of us don't. Anyway, looking forward to seeing some up-close pics if someone is lucky.

TiredChildren wrote: Middle man price that I saw this morning was $280 plus shipping for a 2-pack. Ah, the middleman price. Thanks, that makes more sense. If they are exclusive to a wrestling event, that would be interesting, but I assume that info is also coming from the middleman. I remain skeptical since no price or venue has been announced officially.

I thought I read a few references to retail price. But yeah I also spotted that bizarre "pre-order" price.
Sakaguchi-san is very old school - a hardcore perfectionist craftsman, which I guess is why the release numbers are so low. I can't imagine how much time goes into every figure and its packaging.

Re: ILU ILU Neo Gorilla, Tokio, Görz, & Other! Database 1st
Is it really much different than other toy lines in the past?
RxH or Toygraph or whoever would release at retail and then by the time it gets across the ocean, it's twice retail. None of those companies sold directly to overseas customers like say Secret Base does these days.
I'm guessing it's not a large run. Factor in, one has to pay to attend the wrestling event, and to actually have a chance to purchase the sets. Yen is down since 2012. Finally, there's so much crap releases these days, finally something to spend money on.
Tiger Mask. The Dehara wrestlers. Now these.

Actually you are correct, forgot that, they had a basic web page or web store. On the other hand, it may not be fair to compare 2013 distribution methods to 5-6 years ago.

Gorgeous packaging, assuming that's some sort of wrapper banner on the lower one.

Is the panther/tiger like head a mask? Fantastic figures and packaging as usual from Ilu Ilu!

Yes, judging from the depth in the photo, and the slightly different angles of the eye, it looks like the lion mask is removable (to me).

I want a set of these in such an ungodly way. My two biggest loves in the hobby world are Sofubi and Pro Wrestling. So having two tokusatsu villain [heels if you will] inspired wrestlers ready for an old school chain match is INTENSE. Then factor in the genious that is Iluilu... Good god.

Re: ILU ILU Neo Gorilla, Tokio, Görz, & Other! Database 1st
So it appears that IluIlu took pre-orders for a new set of Wild Cross vs. Great Ozeki at the rassle event. The new set is cast in fresh vinyl(I assume that's flesh). Anyone know if it will be painted?

Re: ILU ILU Neo Gorilla, Tokio, Görz, & Other! Database 1st
Its not really the kind of 'pre-order' that u may be thinking of. Infact it is really limited, maybe just slightly more than those sold today where there is only a handful of each version, so yes i believe its painted.
