Very true. It makes sense if you are a vacationing family, and you spend a day or two at the con, spend time at the beach, hit the attractions, etc.
I do take no small amount of pride in my city, and i've been impressed at how well staffed, clearly marked, and relatively smooth experience it is for being such a massive horde of people.
What needs to happen is convention center expansion. It would accomodate even more people, bring jobs, and spread the herd of attendees out so everything would be less of a nightmare. As usual, there is human bickering about who gets the contracts to build, land ownership, and 'environmental' concerns. The city of San Diego needs to get its shit together and handle this, or the city will lose this massive amount of revenue every year.

Fuck the commercial real estate company my lovely g/f WAS working for. They harassed her at work, made her work 80+ hrs a week and tried to get out of paying her, humiliated her to the point where she would often come home crying and my g/f is tough as nails. She had back surgery over the summer and was set to go back to work this coming Monday and they fire her listing a bunch of really bullshit shady reasons.
