Dcon is gets bigger and better every year. This year was insane, at least for sofubi collectors. Lines and sell outs everywhere this morning.
Holy SHIT: Does not get much better than that... hittin' on all cylinders. Stellar meeting of sculpt and paint app. WOW.
"Birds everywhere, I call that the chicken room.."- Gucci Mane. Here's a neat idea....Start FILMING the lines and the people who purchase and what they purchase. Then make mental notes/log the flip when the ebay postings go up and apparently the second they get back to their hotel rooms (Don't wait till you get home for people to forget what ''that one guy or girl looked like-- i think". fucking nobs.) Save the footage and re-watch a few times before the next con. To get those faces fresh in your mind. Would take some work, but you have to admit its not a bad idea. Dcon 2017: setting PK booth, the kids picked up their ticket #s an hour ago, and its lotto time. And...ACTION.
Hey im all about keeping track and in gallery setting its so doable but at dcon? No way! There was easily 150+ p waiting for PK. Shit i was number 59 in line with lotto pulls and still got a domino jack. And easily 2 dozen numbers got called that were no shows. The sheer volume is insane
Easily best in show for me. I tried as hard possible to score and couldnt even with a vendor badge. Only 3 made!!! Sooo crazy! This needed to be a large run lol. Its filled with gid flash cuttings! Heavy and perfect in hand
Thanks for the pics Mutantshark! This was my first Dcon ever and it did not disappoint. And of course it was great meeting and talking to the skullbrainers I did.
With the help of a good friend i was able to get 2 of those great John Sanatgada HP Bitesize one off's. Love the colors, especially on this one.
I guess DCON is the place to be at this year and for eternity. ;( Thanks for sharing all the photos guys! We need some events in the midwest like these.
I think my feet are about to fall off. An excellent convention. Many thanks to all the amazing artists who flew and drove all over the world, and all the cool friends I met and made.
Thank you guys for taking and sharing photos -- Lots of stunners in there that I'd love to have on my shelves. I am infinitely jealous of those who get to attend such events. Florida sucks. Does anyone know the name of the new Skull Toys skeletal Seabozu-esque behemoth?
I wish I could get an Astro Unkotsu purple version. Anyone know how many were actually made/sold this weekend. Apparently they sold out immediately.
I didn't take nearly as many pics as I'd hoped. Was overwhelmed, plus all the booths I was interested in snapping pics of always had a crowd in front. I really only got one crappy booth shot of Unbox Industries: The rest is what I bought. Group shot: Bwana loot (plus he gave my daughter a Lonny head pendant, and drew in her sketchbook): My weak Gargamel Dai Moai pulls (three left arms): Rampage Toys group. Such fun stuff, was super happy he was there: Super7 Alien:
I had another figure in my hand (can't remember which one now) then saw a display stand with this guy on it and immediately changed my mind.
NICE, David! Okay, I have a semi-idiotic confession to make regarding my Holy SHIT post on that one: a few nights prior, I had installed f.lux on my Mac (which, for those of you concerned about your constantly screen-beset eyes and/or healthy Circadian rhythm, is great and I highly recommend it). When I saw the pics of that DSH, I forgot f.lux was running and that its yellow filter was very much present. So, in the color scheme I saw, the sprays around the eyes were a trippy electric turquoise (the rest was not much affected by the filter). It was that color detail that really led to my Holy SHIT. Still an awesome paint-up, no doubt- Jon killed it, great treatment of the clear vinyl- but when I happened to look at it again the next day, I was like, "....oh."
Wanted to give a shout-out to "hellscrape" for muling and helping me score a few items at Dcon. They should be coming in the mail any day and I'll post pictures! Also, for those who attended, was Dcon large enough to out-grow the convention center? Like how big did it grow this year? Any idea on attendance numbers?
