For your viewing (dis)pleasure, I bring you more Infinity Glass Style Studio Shot trash spam. This didn’t take as long as the gap has been since DCon, I’ve admittedly just been lazy. The new iteration of Sick Boy Billy is so great. The stance is a lot sturdier and the gloss is a lot nicer than I initially thought it’d be. The ice cream being attached to his hand now is also a great addition. Can’t lose ‘em now! Bone Head’s coolest feature, by far, is the fact that the bones are sculpted in protrusion on the body, rather than just painted on. The Shiner’s International Fraternity fez is rather suiting, as they represent the general principles of fun and a widespread love of brotherly proportions. So in Ken’s case, with these characters, I think it sort of symbolizes a tying in of them all coexisting together under the Headlock name. Mr. Hyde is great, with the split stitches in the face obviously representing the Jekyll/Hyde duality. I love that the hands are color coordinated to the faces, as well. The Famous Monsters version is awesome, as we now have an official glimpse/release of the Lil’ Franky head on the Diablo/Hyde suit body, and it looks awesome. Fits right in, and creates that much more possibility! Alright, enough of my babble. Spoiler The minis!!!
Already workin’ on a next release, somethin’ totally new, and really rad, Ken has revealed Tibetan Tiger! I’ve admittedly only seen illustrative iterations of the Tibetan tiger on rugs and some wall scrolls, so I’m not entirely sure if there’s more this is derived from, though Google is my friend. What I already enjoy about this toy is that it clearly has purely playful elements that make it a toy, but I could very easily, and most likely will, display this tiger as the center piece of a table or shelving unit, serving directly as a decorative piece, like a statue, rather than a toy. I enjoy duality in just about anything, and I tend to find it in everything if I look hard enough, which I do find it here. This is another one that would look great in numbers, which I feel is an intentional, key element to what Ken puts out. Price and release date are TBD. View this post on Instagram
Recently came into the first blue blank from TTF ‘18, which now puts me complete on large Headlock figures! Also got my hands on the mint blank mini Lil’ Franky from Summer Soul ‘19 in Hong Kong! Very, very excited to add this pair into the foray!
Creature Bazaar announced over on Instagram that they’ll be hosting an event in LA on March 27th - 29th, presented by Headlock Studio, featuring Knuckle and Johnny Akihito of Weird Creations. There’ll be a ‘round two’ of sorts on April 2nd, the day before the Creature Bazaar event itself, which I’m sure will be the most packed on the four shows. I’m extremely excited to finally meet Knuckle and Johnny in person, as well as seeing what’ll be brought along in the way of both toys and art. Keepin’ my fingers crossed to see Knuckle live airbrush. I’ll definitely be driving out for both chains of events!
@MoonspellxRites An original Knuckle character airbrushed onto a crewneck would get framed in my house with a quickness.
Thanks for bringin’ this here, Andy. I saw this when Ken posted it and spaced out on illuminating the two reveals. With the second re - iteration of the OG Sick Boy being another original version(the @Cool Magazine exclusive) I hope this means he’ll be redoing the original grey at some point, as well. The Tibeo is a great size, more or less what I was hoping for. Could even be a companion by size to most Headlock toys. I saw another post with the tag for Tibeo reading a cool ¥9,000 price tag, which I’m very happy about.
I came into the original grey version of Sick Boy, one of four versions released in 2002, some time ago. I just never got around to shooting it. Amazes me that someone kept this version bagged for 18 years, but I’m very thankful for my insomnia and finding this online at 4:00 a.m. The new red shirted version, recently mentioned here, is a reproduction of the Cool@ Magazine exclusive. Was lucky to get the OG SBB from a fellow SBer here years ago. /?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading" data-instgrm-version="14" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"> /?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading" style=" background:#FFFFFF; line-height:0; padding:0 0; text-align:center; text-decoration:none; width:100%;" target="_blank"> View this post on Instagram
I’m way stoked to have been able to find the original trio of Sick Boy. Just missing the GID blank. My Cool@ exclusive is missing the ice cream, too, but I’ve got a workaround for it. They look so awesome displayed together.
I think the Creature Bazaar Bone Kun exclusive was super awesome and definitely would have been a highlight of the show. And that GID Bonehead is fantastic as well.
that bone kun is perfection. the mashup of the bone head and the sweatshirt body, the colors, everything!
Received my Bone Kun on Saturday, and I couldn’t be more pleased. The Creature Bazaar crew really did fans a service with this collaborative effort alongside Headlock. Even though the execution may seem like a no - brainer after seeing it, I never would’ve thought to put Bone Head’s skull atop Lil’ Frankie’s body. But it definitely works, and perfectly. I also very much enjoy this being something of a mascot toy for the Creature Bazaar event, which I’m hoping we’ll still see come to fruition when this pandemic craziness is over. The classic Halloween colors are great, as well. Very fun, and makes me think of the three masks from Halloween III: Season of the Witch. And I’m a sucker for most Halloween themed/colored toys. Goes without sayin’ that I’m very happy to be able to add this to the shelves. Spoiler
@eckotyper Ah, damn! I’m bummed you didn’t come up, my dude. I’ll keep an eye out on the aftermarket front! Ken sent my Tibeo by Yamato Logistics this time, shipped yesterday and I’ve since checked the tracking. It says it’s in transit and on the way! So here’s to hoping!!!
Agree with @eckotyper. That tiger was dope! I haven't won anything from him directly, but I'm thankful for a friend hooking me up with Lil Diablo and getting lucky with Creature Bazaar. How hard is his stuff to score now @xSuicide Squadx? He seems to have really blown up in the last 6-12 months.
Hard to say but by the number of comments on his lotto posts I would assume he is getting 500-1000 entries per lotto.
It's amazing how much this hobby has absolutely exploded in the last year. To your point: May 8th, 2019 43 comments April 24th, 2020 347 comments
@kid_miracleman DCon 2018 he didn’t sell out of Lil’ Frankie until Sunday afternoon. DCon 2019 he had a line of what I counted to be 48 people deep half an hour before the convention even opened. He’s exploded rather exponentially.
That tiger is an amazing toy. I don't know how I missed that lotto. I've been lucky on one headlock lotto so far. And of course there were a hundred million people trying for that tiger. But damn, I don't know how any other paint app will compete with this first release.
@taviq I can very easily see versions of a white tiger done, as well as maybe a lighter blue, and red version. It will definitely be interesting to see where this goes! I can’t wait for mine to arrive.
