Taipei Toy Festival assistance paid off. Very, very lucky and very, VERY happy. The Lil' Diablo is so fantastic and devilishly perfect. From the slick back hair, to the mustache and beard, it really adds to the horned effect of Diablo's sinister grin. The suit and top hat give it that Faust, "make a deal with the devil" aesthetic, for which I hope we continue to see multiple version and colors of. Spoiler KEN KUN!!! Oh, man, this one is equally hilarious as it is awesome. Ken flat out made a toy of himself for his 50th birthday, and that's some of the coolest shit I've ever heard for someone to make a toy. It's also definitely what I would consider to be a mascot toy for Headlock, being it's the owner/operator of Headlock itself. With the crewneck donning "STOKE!" on the front and "headlockstudios.com" on the back, I hope this means we can continue to see more graphics on more Ken Kun figures! Spoiler
My buddy who had one in hand described it as "the Buddy Christ version of Satan" Suffice it to say that description excited me greatly
Yeah i was out of collecting for a while still not really back in but this dude! Sorry im bad at posting, that lil' Frankie yellow green and clear green are too dope!
I was *extremely* lucky enough to be able to pick up one of each new Headlock release this past DCon. However, it’s takin’ me a bit of time to shoot at edit them all, as there’s a decent amount! So for the time being I’ll bring here the Cool@ Magazine exclusive Sick Boy Billy and the lighter holders I recently scored from YJA! Spoiler: Lighter Holders
I like this sculpt too, would love a blank GID of him... maybe with touches of minimal paint ✨✨✨ anyone know if such a thing exists already? Inquiring minds would like to know
@MyVinylVeins There are blank GID versions of the original ‘02 Sick Boy Billy, but bone painted. And none with minimal touches of sprays. It’s all masked, tight knit paints across the boards!
Quite the lineup that Headlock is becoming. I'm glad to see him venture into more horror-themed stuff. Lil Diablo is killer and the new Bonehead is classic.
There's a lot to unpack here. Whole collection of recent figures(not entire Headlock as a whole with past toys), as well as the DCon specific come ups and the recent Bone Head lotto. I genuinely appreciate Ken's output so much, and am constantly in awe of how fun it has been for me to continue staying current with his releases. Unbagged photos to come at a later time to anyone it matters to. Spoiler Minis
thank you so much for sharing! headlock is my favorite maker/s at the moment. everything that they’ve done so far has been to my extreme liking!
@Lalo Thank you for outwardly appreciating it!!! Ken’s got a pretty damn good eye for the artists he collaborates with to produce their art into toys, and I’ve got quite a bit of his older releases with various artists that far exceed his past year’s worth of production. I’m still lookin’ for the first blank blue release from TTF last year! Only large size I’m missin’!
I thought the devil dude was the coolest. and the damn Skeleton dropped!... I love that the hat is not a part of the sculpt, because that was the only thing i wasn't digging about the pics at first. but this is so damn good. congrats all you winners. i sure as hell tried.
I tried for Bone Head as well and also missed out. The little fez made it for me. The Devil reminds me of Coop’s work and he is a slice of vintage-style awesome. Hopefully they’ll be another colour variation and I’ll be luckier next time. Ken really is pushing out some of my favourite designs at the moment.
@eckotyper @Mr Fox His output has been somethin’ of nice clockwork, so you’ll for sure have continued chances! Might vary in sculpt, but I’m sure the rounds will be made! Plenty of his older releases with Knuckle have hat accessories, but the original Sick Boy Billy has the hat as part of the sculpt. I, too, am glad these new characters have the hats as separate pieces. Adds to more playability and aesthetic variation. I’m hopin’ for a white suit, blue skinned Diablo. I also wouldn’t mind a new Oculus Beatnik and Knuckle Kun. Realistically I’ll take a stab at anything he releases, though. It’s been fun to have such consistent releases I find interesting and rad come from a single producer.
Not dissing and agree that everything looks killer . . . but personally think output might be erring on the side of 'too much of a good thing'! That's a whole lotta dolly's made in the last 12 months!
@Anti Social Andy I don’t disagree with that notion, either! I’m personally on the side of the coin where I’m rather content with it and having something to consistently look forward to. I could potentially get to a point where I’m thinkin’ “Alright, that’s enough.” But I’d prefer that over wondering why not much/enough is gettin’ put out. Plus, the fan base is growing enough, that, I think the diversity serves a multitude of personalities. Lots of people are taken care of in variation with the degree of releases he does, especially regionally.
This, and on a selfish note, once i’m ready to drop some coin on toys again i’ll have more options to choose from, and aftermarket prices (hopefully) won’t be ridiculous.
I keep saying I'll hold it in case the newer sculpts make it into mini sizes, but Bonehead and Diablo are crushing my resolve. @xSuicide Squadx hats off to you for the excellent photos as always, and congratulations on assembling a formidable gang of monsters.
Agree with @xSuicide Squadx here. While I understand @Anti Social Andy's point to a large degree, on the positive side that steady flow of different colors has meant his line has been popular while also being attainable. People seem to be catching onto this brand more which is driving up aftermarket but his volume has kept it reasonable. Every single con I've been to I've been able to just casually stroll over and grab something if I wanted even though there may be a line initially. But I do hope if he spreads out the sculpts a bit more so we see a bit less Frankies and a bit more of the new stuff.
Dreaming of new releases of Spumpkin to go with Sick Boy. Ken was a true Japanese designer toy pioneer. And I don’t think he ever got the credit he was due like some of his peers. Glad so many people are hip to him now. It truely makes me happy to see him getting the admiration he has always deserved.
