Yeah you're right. The M world price for the last Tillagon was 71500! That's extreme! Retail prices also seem to be going up. 30k for a medicom release seems rather steep...
^^ Exactly. And monstock is a company that I would support if the aftermarket prices weren't so insane.
When I bought a Tillagon through M a year ago, it was less than 200. I saw the same version sell for over 700 on Mandarake. I think the price increase reflects the secondary market. Monstock is weird in that regard and it's a bit of a turn off. They will crank out unlimited releases of figures that don't demand a high aftermarket price, but once a sculpt starts going for money on the secondary market, it seems like they intentionally make them unavailable or much more difficult to grab. They have that one awesome toy of the building with the plant monster breaking out of it, and you never see runs available for sale through Mworld, because it goes for over a grand on the secondary market.
^^ Exactly. They have some really cool looking toys that are really original but you kind of hit all the main points about secondary market prices.
Can anyone provide an opinion on M-world service? I had re-posted a parabasu pic from Monstock's instagram, trying to find out info on how to purchase, and just now the person behind Monstock's instagram pm'd me (very kindly/nice guy) info about how to purchase, and he pointed me to m-world and sent me an email address for it. I have a normal SS for any items I purchase from Japan, but I'm guessing M-world is a specialty toy thing, or they may have some kind of arrangement with Monstock?
M-World is helpful when the toy you want isnt hyped, I have gotten Sunguts from them and they charged 20 dollars on top of the actual cost. Some of the Monstock toys are reasonable from them, read above and you will see that some their other toys go for much more. M-World is just for toys, if you send them an email they will put you on their mailing list, they usually have toys up from the fests. They dont have them in hand though, they send out buyers to try and get what you requested and they dont always score. Not sure what the relationship is between them and Monstock but I have also emailed and was also told to go through M-World.
Has anyone ever bought a orangutan pongo at retail or through his lotto? Does anyone know the retail price. I only see them on the secondary market for crazy prices so I don’t know if retail is crazy. I want to enter the new lotto but don’t want to bother if it’s much more than a couple hundred.
The best thing about M world is the dozen daily emails about toys. If you like looking at toy pics its the service to join! And unless it's a hype toy, they're not too bad about prices. Maybe 20 percent increase. If you're buying a 70 dollar toy that's not too bad.
Stumbled across this Bandam at a "reasonable" price. This guy is crazy. I love him. The multiple points of articulation have kept me trying different poses. Spoiler: Moar
That combo is in my top 10 ever I think. Time to start sneaking this out. Rampage, Bwana (that's me , Kani, and Monstock will have a show together this spring in Tokyo. Just a little fun thing... but I'm so jazzed. Get to hang out with people I really like, together for a full day!
Picked up a new big guy from Mandarake. Love his blissed-out face. And although I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, I think the weathered paint job is really fitting on this figure. The rust color has some texture to it. Spoiler: Moar pix
I saw that and really liked it, almost a Mirock Toy kind of aesthetic. Glad to see it in your collection.
