A friend of mine started a very fine drawing site a few years back, 10eastern. It hosts thousands of pictures drawn there with a simple Japanese MSPaint style applet called Oekaki. Time was, dozens of great drawings from around the world would appear each day, but it's slowed down quite a bit in the past year or two. It would be great if some of you had a look over there, and even better if you maybe wanted to try your hand at a monster or two for the once thriving board. Although you can draw whatever you like, here's a sampling of some monstrous diddles that appeared there in the past:
Monster on the cover would make a cool toy: gross, lovely texture, historico-punk reference and credibility...
Cerberus under a full moon... Seems to have lost his sword though ehh... Maybe it's stuck inside that one eyed Pachycephalosaurus/ant that seems to have turned into a man infected with one of Ripley's babies... Oh yeah, that would suck to have Pepora face veins in your back... I like it...
Spike Wad is a fairly new large mutant spider. It's origins are unknown, some say it first appeared in the area of the Large Hadron Collider on the border of France and Switzerland. It was given the military nomenclature "Spider Quad" which was shortened to "Spi-Quad" and finally "Spike Wad". The gender is unknown. Currently it has not been observed making a web or shooting silk. The volcano like protrusions on it's back appear to be a defensive mechanism, the larger ones can extend and shoot gelatinous balls of a gooey substance. The gelatinous balls are extremely thick and sticky, and they have a slight numbing effect on human skin. The three large eyes give it excellent nocturnal vision, with a sort of thermal imaging view. The teeth can deliver a paralyzing venom if a bite is made, although the teeth are too big to penetrate a human being. Spike Wad's four arms make him/her an excellent climber, it has been observed climbing tall buildings and towers with alarming speed. The arms are covered in a sort of armored exoskeleton. The body is covered in a thick fuzzy hair, which is impervious to fire. A single hair is about the width of a Bavarian weisswurst. Spike Wad has no known weaknesses, but it has been noted that he/she seems to bypass cultural icons, cheese shops and boulangeries when rampaging.
Oh, man- excellent , Jeff! Love Spike Wad! His back and legs are really cool… and your write-up is great and hilarious! I have one little comment to make though: if this guy makes it into toy form, I hope that his head will be sculpted to taper towards the neck, like it does in the last drawing above. That’s a really nice touch, and it sets him apart a bit from M5-Bravo and Stee-Gar. I realize that could pose an issue if the plan is for him to have swappable parts like his bros; but perhaps the tapered head could just be sculpted a bit larger, proportionally, to keep the neck circumference the same as the other two guys. Anyway, just my two cents… in any case, you continue to do fuggin’ fantastic work!

thanks guys! I had fun drawing them, thats for sure. Spike Wad will be just like his brothers, a sort of bean shaped body, so he can change parts with them. The bottom illo with the skinnier neck was so he could fit into a book template... I appreciate the comments though. I've seen the prototype sculpts, and I am well pleased. The sculpted hair gives him a wolfman look...can't wait to see the vinyl tests. jeff
This is a watercolor/ink work by a local artist; still undergoing some minor tweakage, and this is just a quick scan of a color copy... but I'm thinking about making it the second print in the 10 Horsepower Arm series... what do you guys think?

Wicked like the Nephites in the book of Mormon . Thanks B4T, it's inspired by the work of brazilian artist Berje. Check his Flickr, he's a badass drawer of occult monsters. I actually thought i had redrawn something of his but i've looked through his stuff and it would seem that i just picked up on the general spirit of his drawings.
I've been following Berje's work for a while. I really like the humor in his drawings. Like having some evil looking monster with a nice pair of kicks on. Not because I have a big hulking tattoo of one of your drawings but I prefer your work to his.
