That Fubugirara is pretty amazing! I've never seen that kaiju before, but he definitely wins in the Best Name category!
This guy might seem kind of plain, but Dogora is one of those B-list kaiju characters I always loved for its weird but classic sci-fi terror. Not quite as film-accurate as the M1 sculpt, but really cool and fun. A classic Vinyl Paradise figure for me.
New friends. Marmit "Monster Heaven" "Vinyl Paradise" Ultraman Gubira Gubila "Mummy Man" Mummy Kemular Tsuburaya
An amazing trio. I have come across that Mummy just once - a figure I have been dying for other companies to have a go at; even a Bandai would do - and I have regretted not being able to buy it ever since. Such a great character. And with those two friends along, what is not to love?
Man, I flipped when I first saw a pic of that Mummy Man sculpt! Been after one since that very instant. Pretty stunned that I was able to find my favorite colorways of all three at the same time. The fact that I was able to scoop them all up in a trade makes me worry that something very bad is just around the corner! File under too good to be true.
I thought the recent Ryo deserved a place in this thread. Kazumitsu Akamatsu is my idol, the man is an unstoppable force. IMHO his recent figures have completely reinvigorated the Marmit line (at least for me). He is just doing some amazing shit for Marmit. I could gush on and on, but I will just let the work speak for itself.
Nice figure man. Marmit makes some of the most detailed vinyl versions of old MG. I am really trying to find one of the larger sized ones; Ian's collection of them makes me so jealous.
Yeah, I'd like a big one too, kicking myself for not buying The red and black from Super7 when they were half price :/ Also, very mad that this one didn't come with the small flying MG
Ah damn, that is too bad, he is really one of the coolest omakes. I love this guy's rotateable hands too. Extra articulation like that is always a lot of fun. This guy also has a really great post I like. Very 'action' oriented, like he is ready for a face off. Although the boxey robot look works for a lot of the Mechagodzillas too, I like having some variety, and this is a really cool and fun version. He also has kind of a chubby look to him, which makes it seem like he is a little kid MG, I can't stop smiling over that.
The great wrist articulation reminded me of this super Marmit toy which I guess I never posted here - one of my all time favourites, and I think one of the best Baltan sculpts ever done. I really love his roughness, and the arm twisting ability just throws it over the top. Throw in some extra fantastic paint and vinyl colour, and it is bordering on an ideal toy for me.
That Baltan really is superb, Steve. I might have to agree that that's one of the best sculpts I've seen of him. For me, I think it's just about tied with the M1: M1 Go Hyper Hobby exclusive Baltan by w1ngnut0, on Flickr Also, that Parababy(?) MG1 above is great.
I still hope to one day find the Marmit Baltan you posted above in GID to go with my Glow Marmit Ultraman Steve. It's been a fruitless 6 years looking but then again they were sort of event limited.
Damn you Sanjeev, you have found my weakness! The way I resolve these kind of serious moral conundrums is by breaking down the Baltans into menacing alien sculpts and cutesy toy sculpts. While there is some crossover, it allows me to have great guys like this on the same level as ones by Bullmark and M1. The glow is a real treasure, I can see why anyone would hunt after it. I have seen this one come up a couple times in the past, but that one never. Strange how some of the Marmit guys are like hen's teeth, compared to the numbers I think they produce for most of them. Since we are on that subject, I have been hunting that glow Ultra with the bendy arms you've got in your collection too for years. The grey one is nice too, but I love the contrast with GID vinyl on Ultra characters.
There are only 100 of those Marmit Glow Baltan's around. 50 in each color for the Ultraman 40th Anniversary: Probably explains why. For the record I'm looking for the purple/green one Actually a lot of Marmit event only toys are hard to come by. I know I searched for the GID Baragon forever till Sanjeev put me out of my misery.
Ah cool, I wasn't aware of the actual numbers, though I did suspect it would be low [relatively]. Such a shame really. And while I would be ecstatic to have either in my collection, I am with you in having hunted down the green especially. It is too bad we can't get another glow clearance like the massive exodus from Sanjeev's. It is a good bet a fair chunk of the folks checking on the quality toys on this forum have at least one figure coming from his blessed shelves. Or, I guess, if you would commit yourself wholly to vintage. (hey, a kid can dream)
I'm big on the PB type 2, myself: One day you will be mine! Love that sparker colorway on anything, really.
^ Yep, that is a pretty nice one too. Can't go wrong with most Baltans. At long last I got a few more additions to my Gargantuas family. A few left still, but after all these years, it gives me great pleasure to be to check off a couple from the list. Here are the two loveable giants from the Para Babies line. I couldn't get my preferred festival version of Gaira to match the darker Tokyo Show Sanda, but damn, this is still extremely satisfying. In case anyone didn't notice, yes, I really love the Gargantuas.
That funky little omake is actually a building. Good for trampling on or hurtling at your enemy as a makeshift weapon.
