Glorious olden trio, Grace. Free 'em up quick and introduce them to the kits!

One day maybe our M1s can meet up for some kissy face

I think a meeting of two such Buta collections might just cause the world to implode.

Great pic. I would love to see more takes on dinos.
On a side note...It's been great to see the buta gundam prices go down. I hope he does another colorway.

Hmm, I hadn't really noticed that, just an odd exception I missed out on, but I hope it is true. :| I would really love to see the line expanded to more characters or at least paints, it would make me so happy. Not really expecting it, but my dream stays alive.

Well the prices on yahoo are still absurd but in general 95 doesn't seem too steep.

^ Seems like everybody but Gunboy has been priced somewhat reasonably since shortly after the drop - have you seen him in the lower price range, too? Another colorway for these guys would be totally welcome, but I'm guessing that we will see more (similarly difficult to track) mecha sculpts appear before that happens. When is the fest again?

    Dept. of Flying Time:
Turns out I'm getting old - as ever, nobody cares but me, but I jotted down the wrong date for this year's Butaversary! I'm five years and just under two days into the hunt. I'd been planning on hauling out all of my prehistoric critters for a celebratory shoot, but it turns out I was just twiddling my thumbs on the actual day.

Instead, I'll just thank Bryce again for busting my cherry:

Recap some funsies from the first year:

And toss in a little more from yesterday's session:

See you all again next year, and yes, probably later today.

It's not fishing, pH, it's compulsive oversharing. A problem, I'm told, with the class of 2011.
Plus, I don't deny you guys Family Day! Can't a man invent and celebrate his own holiday in peace?

Come a little bit closer, mon ami, "Kong" has something he'd like to share with you...

Don't you be dissing Family Day man. I am also an avid celebrator of Beer Day and Hoser day, only those last all year long.

And those are some smooch-worthy cheeks, if any. Bring 'em here big fella!

Happy Butaversary Deevis, and many more! Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful photos!

p.s. Stevie, if any imploding due to collections merging were to occur, it would surely invovle Plover's amazing Buta collection!

Wonderful pic man. Ooh, that milky vinyl; Takkong takkes the trophy.

Looks like you had a great time on vacation, and I am so happy to see you took some toys along for the journey. :)

Got back from a little vacation, and had time to spiffy up the photo...

I am of the general feeling that toys should be released from their cocoons (yes, really!:D), but I am inspired by Baikin's 2006 Wonderfest Flickr photo:

I sorta want to keep the yellow Aliens sealed up as a "historical" piece, as documented in Baikin's photo. Will keeping them bagged cause them to get the dreaded "sticky vinyl" syndrome?

Well, any loose ones you come across Grace, feel free to send them my way.

As a serious reply to your answer, the short answer is 'no.' I don't think with these toys you should have anything to worry about *not that I am advocating keeping them entombed. The paint that is susceptible to this is quite different than what are used by Oohashi-san, as is the vinyl, compared to the toys I personally have seen it happen with. Buta bags also tend to be relatively more loose than some, so you might take a look at the gap/overlap with the baggie; I also thing their bags allow more gas exchange. Since most of them are folded over under the header though, there is definitely less room to breathe though. If you want to be safe you could always just make a couple tiny holes with a pin; any small amount should be sufficient. I also advocate picking them up and checking on them regularly. One, it allows you to see signs if this is occurring, but more important, moving the toy around inside the bag frees it from being 'stuck' to any of the plastic on the sides, which is often what causes the damage. David recently (and probably several times in fact) has bought older run Buta toys that have remained sealed right up until they hit his shores, so I am sure he can tell you whether he actually notices anything like this or not, but I know that I haven't.

Still, that is some pretty crazy temptation you are putting yourself through....

Don't listen to him --- Yes, SVS will surely ensue, as will SC, otherwise known as Soul Cancer! Play with your dag toys, woman!

All bags mean here is that the toy hasn't sold yet!

Be inspired by the correct portion of the picture!

Well, I was trying to be helpful, not reactionary. As much as it might pain me, people's toys are theirs to do with as they see fit. For example, I would rather see these toys be kept in plastic bags than ripped open and given a MK vomit custom treatment; it is all relative, and I can't claim to be the god who decides.

    ...play nicely puhlease! :)
Um, what's an "MK" custom treatment please?
I'm still torn! Deevis, you must admit that there are times when historical preservation might mean sacrifice of tactile means? It's just neat to see the toy in it's baggie state, match it's origins as documented in the Wonderfest photo!

Sweet Steve means well, Grace, but so do I!

The Zarab package demands inspection and interaction more so than almost every other toy that Buta has released:
    • Not one but TWO delightful figures to play with!
    • A beautiful saucer stand to cut out, glue and display with pride!
    • A gorgeous, Bullmark inspired mini poster to unfold, pour over and frame!
Respect your toymaker's intentions, my love. Don't leave all his care and attention trapped away in cellophane.

    Friendly emojis implied.

Take some pretty snaps yourself, or enlist a friend with a great camera set-up, to do a shoot with ol' Z in his cocoon! We need more documents like that in the world, but then, please oh please, move on to the next glorious stages. :)

MK = Monster Kolor = what's slathered on all of those toys that you see that look like jet skis o.

Thank you for the explanation! Hmmm... tough one! Well NONE of the entombed get released until those darn cabinets are refinished and assembled! :x:x:x Which is looking like September at this rate! :x So I guess I still have time to decide ;)

Well, we are not disagreeing, despite your efforts to make it seem so. I made it clear that I don't support that line of thinking, but that doesn't mean I can't respect Grace's wishes, and offer advice to help. It's a personal choice.
