Had some free time so I decided to update photos of some oldies but goodies. Starting off with OG Gorgos in classic M1 brown vinyl.
^ Yep, he is a really cool and funky original Yuji sculpt. I had the unpainted brown too! (and a GID) But I had to pass him along to another loving home, as I got the painted version. Amazing how cheap these things can be had for still, considering they came out in '99. Silly fickle collectors. Price ≠ quality.
Beautiful shot of that Gorgos Ultrakaiju! I just ordered the Buta version off Mandarake; very excited to get it in hand. I pretty much love all things M1 and this is no exception. It's what I call "classy kaiju".
It really is a nice snap, Steve - it captures the heft and the gloss of him perfectly. Gorgos doesn't get enough love in the sofubi world! M1's mini of him is pretty awesome, as seen here in Steve's old snap... and in this one from my first ever post to SB: Marmit did him up as a PB. Here he is with his buddy, Peter: Expert snappage by dave zav. And that just leaves Buta's take: Pix by Lixx! Am I missing any?
Look at you guys blowing up the place and hyping my fave rock kaiju Gorgos all up!!! Now I probably won't be able to get those M1's that I keep eyeing at a reasonable price. Silly sarcasm...
OKay, I'll change it up. No further word on rock kaiju that never existed. These are not the Tsuburaya toys you are looking for.Switching now to some classic Toho for a new flavour.
Yeah I was wondering about that, but I got it at a decent price from the very awesome Toshi~San at Zakka in Brooklyn, so I'm happy with the purchase regardless. A good experience and an awesome figure
If this is M1-101, I guess I'll take care of the 'Toho's Unloved Stepchild' lesson. These are (as far as I know) all the medium-sized production JJs to date...
Yanked from a long dead thread: My ailing camera has driven me to cannibalism! o Nice JJ collection, JJ! I've never seen a couple of those blanks before. Still need to find a carded 'classic' paint one for my own collection. Gaira Sanda Frankenstein Gargantuas Goro U.S.Toys
Your timing is good...M1 just reissued the classic paint job with card for a museum exhibit. There are a few up on YJA right now. It's almost identical to the 2008 original but the base vinly is more of a neutral gray; less blue but not by much. In my photo, the classic paint version that is front left is the new 2013 version, and the one on the far right is the original 2008 version.
