Fantastic collection of Jet Jaguars. You have definitely won that one, thanks for sharing them, and the info. I didn't realise the slight variation even in the new guys. Although the classic paint colours stand the test of time, I still have the softest spot for the fleshy one. So is there an obvious difference between the two clear/tinsel fellas? I have seen several of these, but never noticed the variants.
One version was the S7/M1-GO version in the states. The other version was limited to 100 copies and sold only in Japan via mail order from a shop that a Japanese friend translated as "InazumaGo" (apparently 'inazuma' means 'lightning'). The two differences are: 1) S7 version has solid painted arms from the elbows up; the Inazuma edition has only the elbow bands painted with the rest of the arm clear. 2) The S7 version has tinsel only in the head and pipe cleaners only in the body; the Inazuma edition has tinsel in the rest of the body along with the silver pipe cleaners. The InazumaGo edition is on the far left, the S7 is on the far right. You can make out the tinsel in the chest of the InazumaGo version; not sure if you can tell the arms are mostly clear. Hopefully I'll be able to get good photos posted in the near future of not only the production JJs, but my customs as well. I've, uh, got a few of them.
Ah, great, thanks so much for that clarification. I actually thought that there was difference in the arm paints, but the thing with the tinsel is a totally new one to me. Both excellent versions to be sure. Love that you constantly get to learn new stuff like this in the hobby. Guess we have a few more entire shelves of JJs to engorge our eyes at from your collection, including the customs. Looking forward to it!
Thanks for the info on the JJs, JJ, I didn't know there were differences in the S7 versions. But I'm a bit confused on the tinsel thing. The one I have just has the spray on the elbows, but has no extra tinsel in the body. It just has the head tinsel and 2 lengths of silver pipe cleaners, one for the arms and one for the legs. In any case, awesome collection. I too need to track down a classic colored version as well.
I will forgive the oversight this one time, since those figures are just so stunning. Really, some of the best of Yamanaya; beautiful colours, excellent GID vinyl, and a great sculpt. A superb substitute to selling a kidney or too for a vintage one. And hey, still different enough that if you find one, it will fit in the family (but I would of course welcome these if that happened! ). Amazing scores, congrats. They will look beautiful among you other toys.
Well, again, these are Bullmark reissues! And if Yuji painted these (I had no idea!), I guess Yamanaya didn't have a TON to do with these...at least on an artistic level!
I'm surprised no mention of these two. The Kanegon was available at summer wonder festival and again recently by direct mail along with the GID Barunga. M1GO Green Kanegon by Baikin, on Flickr M1GO GID Barunga by Baikin, on Flickr
It hurt to pass on this but it's a space killer and I don't want to just put him in a box, I'd feel bad for him.
^I picked up another King Pepora that I didn't need instead of this guy, wish I had done the reverse and saved myself about 80 bones in the process. The paint apps are stunning.
Baron Spider is amazing. Seems strange to me to do another GID release immediately after doing 3 at once... but regardless, even being newish I can vouch from having quite a breadth of releases from M1 it's among the best original sculpts they've ever done.
Oh no, not my beloved Yuji thread! It is a last bastion of non-hype, non-flipper sanity. I was thinking the same thing, although it is interesting how this latest paint scheme seems to combine aspects of the others. I sure have a hard time picking a favourite among them, although is one of the rare M1 releases where I prefer the GID base vinyl ones to regular versions.
Sweet Jebus, that milky green Kanegon sends me! I think I'd prefer the Baloonga in lavender, but no doubt the glower would be an impressive sight at midnight. I haven't picked up any new new M1s since '11. Must fix that. The solution would have been to pick him up for one of us!
