Finally I can read this thread again! We're behind one week so I couldn't till yesterday! I read World War Z from the same author as the Survival Guide. Great read and yes, he explains lots of stuff regarding zombies. The question would be it they apply to all zombies or only to 'his' zombies. For instance, his zombies do decompose after some time, but slower than a regular corpse if I remember correctly. Also, some zombies get frozen during winter and unfrozen afterwards so these ones last longer than the other that live in warmer places, like it's been mentioned.
I'd been trying for a while now to remember the name of this Australian zombie short I'd caught at a festival a few years ago. I ran into it again by chance the other night on IFC and it was as good as I'd remembered it being- I love Sarah Jane, from 2008 - in fifteen minutes it told a better and fuller story of the world after the epidemic than both seasons of the Walking Dead combined, in my humbleish opinion. .
With regard to Season 2... it was just simply too inconsistent. I liked certain plot points but I've found many characters to be completely irritating. I'm still going to watch because it's better than most shows..But I hope season 3 picks up.
I agree with these sentiments. Perfect example would be Daryl. One moment he's 'Done with this group', the next he does anything they ask. I keep reading online how the writers are trying to show how the ZA changes people and they're worried now about dragging arcs out too long (Sophia situation). Hopefully with Season 3 there will be way too much going on to worry about that stuff. I'd like to see some backstory via flashbacks to get invested in the characters more but Glen Mazzara is adamant about not doing that. Here is an interesting follow up article to the one I posted after the mid season break: http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainmen ... rd/254720/
Here's actually two more pretty cool articles with Glen Mazzara regarding the next season: He says Season 3 & 4 will be in the prison! (but the world will be much larger): http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2012/03/22 ... king-dead/ This one reflects on season 2 more, but still great: http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2012/03/22 ... king-dead/
well it took me a few weeks to be able to sit down and watch the season finale... it was ok... i like how at the end the camera panned up and showed the prison... glad i have other shows to watch that will keep my attention til season 3 premieres.
Three and Four in the prison. Lame. That is just what the show needs to do, move even slower through the books.
Trust me I'm not down for another season all in one location (like season 2) but he did say the 'walking dead world will be larger'. Which I hope means the focus will be on different locations (maybe Woodbury) and not just on this group of survivors at one location i.e. the prison. Believe me if I was a writer on the show and had any control I'd start off every episode in a new location on the road. Whether they are in danger, meeting more survivors, false sense of security, whatever- just not in one spot.
I'm not even sure why I'm complaining, the show has already lost me and I'm not coming back. This just kind of makes me happier with my choice.
I didn't read the article but how long are seasons 3 and 4 going to be? I just am a little baffled that they would spend two seasons at the prison. In the first six episodes of Season 1..they seemed to cover several locations. And I'm glad they only ended up staying like 2 episodes at the CDC. They didn't need to extend that into 5-6 episodes and draw it out. It was very succinct.
they were at the prison for awhile in the comic it made for good reading since threats came to them and strarted internally two seasons should be easy
I'm aware of that and I agree...that it was good reading. I follow the comics but as stated in other posts...the pacing works really well in comic book form but on TV it can drag...especially like it did in Season 2. I just want them to go onto to Woodbury already.
Season 3 will be 16 episodes (up 3 more from Season 2) and with the ratings bonanza the show has been I'm pretty sure Season 4 will have at least that many. Season 1 was only 6 episodes because AMC was unsure if it would be a success, but you're right the pacing was much better and they didn't linger for too long anywhere. Mazzara said they would focus on different groups (Prison, Woodbury, etc etc) next season and it would not just be about the group we know. Also Andrea is with Michonne now so I'm sure we'll have some road time before they hook up with the rest of the group. I'm occupying my wait with The Killing, Game of Thrones, and Breaking Bad (hopefully this summer) in the meantime.
i worry about where the show goes once it runs out of source material for it to follow off of to some degree
I know people are probably tired of my Mazzara interview links but this one really gets into it point by point what season 3 will be about (a lot explained): http://cliqueclack.com/tv/2012/03/29/gl ... interview/

I was going to post about the season 3 lame ass preview they did the other night but figured everyone hates the show anyhow. My logic for watching is good source material sometimes translated well, sometimes really bad, is still better than most TV out there. It's hit or miss. I really hope they do Michonne well (although despite her popularity was never really a favorite character of mine) and don't turn her into some kind of super hero. That preview kind of sucked, let me kill these three zombies with this sword and give a grimacing look. Oh and why they bother with that Talking Dead show I'll never know. It's the lamest surveys, questions, and producers who smirk and say 'no comment' all the time. I hope the preview from Comicon gets posted online and is a little better/longer. bryce I usually wait for the hardcover volume to come out so I'm stuck at 84. Anyone know where I can read WD online?
Looks promising- Comicon Walking Dead Season 3 four minute trailer: http://www.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/v ... lking-dead Song sucks and Carl & Hershel look like they've aged 3 years though!
