Yeah, as I was typing that, I was like "Oh man, I sound like a creep!" Hahah Funny mouth. I hope someone gets a Buta Connection going on with these so we can get our hands on one! Bwana.
yes... but as usual don't know how many or when. No pm me here, pm me over there... too many pms here. i won't be able to find it, and then sadness.
The pretty pretties in question: Best drop since I've been paying attention, and I've seen some great drops!
The Gomes sculpt is going to be great. Its actually a new sculpt with new textures and I can't wait to see the back.
I was too busy to look at the Buta table at SF, did these get released? Were Buta at SF? The only table I went to was US Toys.
I'm a little landlocked here in Michigan, but if Andy's blog can be trusted there was no sign of Buta at this one. I'd guess they'll be sold through his shop any day now.
It is always a matter of only seconds on the Buta website, honestly, I don't know how people do it all the time. I can barely click a button and then they are gone, plus it get more f'ed because if you have one thing in your cart that sells out in the 0.5 seconds it takes you, then the whole thing goes belly up.
Damn I got my time conversion messed up again. I thought it was tonight at 12am but I just realized (from the last few posts obviously) it was 12 am- but last night. Sounds like I would not have had a chance anyhow. Need that Gomess. Oh well I'm 100% sure one could be had down the road at a reasonable price. Not worried. People gobble these up like it's some gold rush but then you always see them listed or resold for about what they were months later. It's older Butanohana that's really hard to find.
Yeah, in the past, the releases have come on Saturday at 1300 (local), so it is an understandable mix up. Sorry you missed this one. I hope you are right with them being more easily available, but honestly I only see that with the red and blue Garamon releases, and I attribute a lot of that to the fact that these at last were available outside of Japan from Grumble Toy, Super7, and I think Grasshut too. Even though it is simply an amazing figure, people do seem to sell him frequently. But I wish I had seen some others as often. Maybe I am biased here, but I also suspect that traditional guys from the '66 crew are going to prove much more popular in general than the Chibira Kun characters. Anyhow, if the past few releases are any indication to judge by, there will be another set of these coming out later in the year with another colour scheme (blue or green vinyl maybe?) and we will have another shot at them. My biggest regret of all of this is just the amount the flippers are making off people truly appreciative of great toys and a brilliant sculptor.
^^ pretty sure that buta actually produced more red garamons due to high demand (through grumble?). which left a bunch of them sitting in various online outlets. you dont see the blues come up as often.
Yeah I know about the extra pink Garamons, but I can't recall anything being super impossible to find in the last few years. Even though demand is higher so is the amount produced. Also lets not forget how many people knee jerk, pick them up, never open them, and sell them later. I can see if you are a completist having trouble maybe finding one particular color way but I usually can find the ones I want eventually and not get jacked.
I was just pointing out why the red garys seem to be one of the easiest to find of all butas. but youre right, its not really that difficult to get the latest butas after theyre sold out. theyll pop up eventually. although some seem to be way more popular and are still fairly hard to get, like the mecharas for example. I suppose it all depends on the character.
My latest random Buta fantasy - the Bat People from Latitude Zero: Griffon needs some friends in the sky! Ooo, and... More evidence of creative recycling on the set of Chibira-Kun?
That's awesome!! And I second your petition! Butanohana every now and then surprises us with randomness so...
Do you think S7 will ever restore their Buta connection? Would be nice to adopt them locally! ...As I was saying to David, I wish those minis would come as Cracker Jack prizes. Wouldn't that be a doozy!
Butanohana Cracker Jack prizes?! That would be brilliant. Man, someone needs to get that ButaConnection going. Even if it is just the minis. More Buta in America!
Does anyone around here remember this one going down? Really curious what the pile wound up going for and if one of us was the lucky dog.
Yeah, I remember that. There ended up being no interest in the auction, so I contacted Morphy's about it, and they let me have another shot at the lot. I bought the set of those Butas from their reduction bin for, 25$ I think, might be wrong about the exact amount (but that was before their commission and shipping of course). 2009, those were strange times. Then I had a BBQ.
